I apologize if you think my comment was rude. I assure you I wasn't trying to be. There's no way I could have known if disabling other mods was the first thing you tried doing since you didn't mention it.

  Perhaps giving that

Post by ss2 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:49 am

@JaxFirehart  Perhaps giving that information is helpful in solving normal problems with it however my original problem wasn't a typical one nor should it dictate how one responds to an individual asking for help. If further information is need to help somebody its more than fine to ask politely but being rude to a person asking for help (which means the person is likely not well versed in what they're trying to get help for or know what information is needed to get help) is completely and utterly wrong. It would be like a doctor refusing to help an injured man simply because he can't provide an in depth diagnosis of whats wrong with him, with you being the doctor and my computer program being the injured man. Regardless I also provided the specs that were asked for, both mod managers, symptoms and to an extent what i've tried. Load order wouldn't be an issue due to it being an instillation issue. The only information I didn't provide off off that was the install log so i'd say I provided more than enough information for a cordial response even by what you deem as necessary for one. I've attempted to remain polite and will continue to do so but I will only do so for those that are giving me the same respect back. I apologize if you feel this is unwarranted, but I felt is was so.

@TrickyVein Don't worry about it, so long as you weren't trying to be no harm done. I apologize for going on the defensive. I just imagined that it would be obvious I tried that and didn't feel it was necessary to mention it. I spent a solid 3 hours just trying to fix that problem to no avail sadly. I've had to work all day today just to get new vegas back into a playable state and i'm still trying to fix bugs, like my esc key not working after a few minutes of play. (no clue whats causing that or how i'm gonna fix it but i'll figure something out eventually) Needless to say i'm a tad frustrated with the game and just want to sit down and relax with it for a little.

To work off of your analogy,

Post by JaxFirehart » Sun Mar 02, 2014 6:28 am

To work off of your analogy, this is NOT the doctor refusing to help because you can't provide a diagnosis, this is the doctor refusing to help because you didn't provide a medical history or fill out any paperwork, instead assuming that it was obvious to the doctor. You came in and said my stomach hurts, the doctor asked if you had moved your bowels in the past 24 hours, because that is the most common reason for stomach pains, you got upset because of course you had moved your bowels, how could he even assume you hadn't already tried that?

You have to remember we see a lot of patients and answer the same questions constantly, when someone comes in and doesn't give us enough information we have to waste our time asking the basic questions to get the necessary details, time that might be better spent helping someone who is better prepared and has provided the necessary information. Finally, if you are unable to solve or diagnose the problem yourself, then who are you to determine what information is useful and what is not? If the doctor asks your blood type are you going to say it isn't relevant or just tell him your damn blood type? For all you know, Type AB Negative has a predisposition to Angry Colon Syndrome.

Also your original problem WAS a typical one. Had you searched the forum for something like "Object has been disconnected" you would have found 5 other threads with the same problem and the same solution proposed. It is common courtesy to research before asking for help and especially to read the sticky posts on a forum. You did neither. Your main menu refusing to appear is also very common and is usually caused by having too many mods, improperly uninstalled mods, or incompatible mods.

So maybe, instead of arguing about what information is necessary, post your damn install log, your load order, and tell us everything you have already tried so that someone can help you without having to pry every piece of information out of you bit by bit.

top lel. Gone for ~six months; people still post the same stuff.

OT: I'm pretty sure it's still recommended that TTW is installed on an un-modded game (and one that remains un-modded after install for best results)

Regardless, posting (in point form for easy reading if you want) exactly what you have done, and giving your load order and install log are pretty much the required help request behavior traits. Writing essays on how you feel oppressed by your doctor, not so much.

ss2 I noticed that you said

Post by Risewild » Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:21 pm

ss2 I noticed that you said that your load order is 149 plugins, I can tell you that for TTW there is no magic limit, it is varied but I have seen people having problems from 120 to 155 or so plugins. There is no real total number for it, it all depends from person to person (probably hardware related, probably related to which plugins are in use, probably both, etc), also even if you have plugins that are not active but are still in your data folder and appear on your NMM or FOMM or any other mod manager you might use, they will still impact on it.

My suggestions is really try without any mod for the part of vault 101 until you get out of the cave into the world, then start putting your mods back a couple at the time and try to load the game, if it works rinse and repeat.

Another suggestion, if the fomod file you managed to install using FOMM is the same that failed to install on NMM, it is very likely that it got corrupted by NMM, I have seen it happen to many users around here, giving problems including the no options main menu.

Also attention to Fallout 3 mods, in case you have any in your loading order, badly converted (or without any conversion) or old Fallout 3 mods for older TTW versions will give problems usually being crashes before reaching the main menu or no options main menu.

Now not trying to be rude or angry at you, but I really can't see how the first post made by TrickyVein was being rude, he didn't say anything wrong, the problem I guess is that text doesn't work very well for contexts. Also I can understand you being frustrated, it once took me five full days of install and reinstall the Fallout games, all the requirements, downloads and TTW installer and never worked properly, until one day it just worked, I was quite frustrated specially because it is my job testing TTW and while users were already playing it I was still trying to install it. But please remember that other people also get frustrated, you have no idea how many users have problems and come here and ask for help and then don't give the required information, and this happens for almost three years now, over and over, that is why that sticky post was made and all the information required for people to help is asked in it, the TTW Devs have lost countless hours helping people that do little effort to help themselves, wouldn't you feel frustrated if that happened pretty much every couple of days for almost three years to you?

Also you compare this as a doctor, well there is a big difference, the doctor is there gaining his pay, people here do this in their spare time for absolutely no money at all, they get no reward from it, but they do it because they think it is good to share with anyone their work, they could always keep this project to themselves and save a lot of headaches, but they are not selfish and so they not only share TTW with the world, they many times go out of their way to help those who have problems. They could have just said to you to look for help somewhere else because they won't help you, but they are still here trying to help, that is why they asked for all the information possible.

Hope you make it work soon and enjoy TTW.

@ JaxYou're argument is

Post by ss2 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:36 pm

@ JaxYou're argument is completely redundant Jax I did provide the information as I already stated and for the the matter you are refusing to help because I didn't give you one detail. The entire point of what I said was also your treatment of others for not giving you said information being extremely rude it doesn't matter if you deal with the problem a thousand times a day each person deserves respect and patience. I used to help with teaching children that had metal disabilities as well as learning disabilities, would it have been ok for me to treat them that way just because they frustrated me and didn't tell me everything that was wrong or that they needed? I can tell you what if I had I would of been fired on the spot.

And no its not a typical one most of the issues with ttw i've seen in my research have ben related to in game glitches such as doors not working, scripts getting bugged and other in game issues. If what you say about how many problems you have to "help" solve is true then finding 5 other people asking for help out of the likely several hundred to several thousand since the mod was released is less than miniscule and just not a common problem with mods in general. The fact i've installed hundreds upon hundreds of mods for so many games gives me a good idea to know what kind of issues come up, this is the first time i've ever run into this kind of issue when installing something. From here on out I am going to ignore you because you're not worth my time and you appear to be one of those people.

@Rise Hm now that I didn't know, I did try without any other active plugins but they were still installed, perhaps later I could try uninstalling everything again and trying I was wanting to look through my load order and take off or consolidate a few plugins. What you said for vault 1001 is normally what I do when this happens and I did try it but like I said not with the plugins uninstalled just not active. I don't have any fallout 3 mods installed i've tried it in the past but most of what I would want are script heavy ones that are too complicated for me to convert such as the ties that bind. As for tricky and jax, for the former I just made a mistake and took what he said the wrong way and for jax its more of the fact he expects a person seeking help to be a damned expert and give information they may not even know how to and treats them rudely until he gets it. Nobody deserves to be treated as such for ignorance of what is needed and if mods acted that way on other sites i'm part of they wouldn't be mods. Hes having a bit of a hissy fit over it despite me having provided the information and doing my best to give everyone trying to help all the information I thought might be needed, his argument that he can't help somebody unless they tell him what he needs to know goes both ways how is a person supposed to help him get that information when they don't know everything that could factor whats listed in the sticky thread he linked to aren't the only things that could cause issues.

I don't see a reason to continue this thread i've decided to wait until the next version comes out to try again and I need to get my new vegas copy back into a playable state would seem something along the way of me installing ttw and then uninstalling it and all of my plugins has broken the game and i'm having to fix that now but that I can handle on my own. Thank you to those that provided solutions or tried helping it might not have worked but it never hurt to try.
