I got disappearing water when I tried to force Shader Model 3.0 via changing the name of a shaderpackage etc. (as in this guide).

You may need to use a
You may need to use a different shader package, 17, 18 or 19 depending on your card. Seems to not like AMD cards (teehee) works fine with NVIDIA cards afaik.

Yes, you should have some
Yes, you should have some caveat about ATI cards in the guide IMO - and also perhaps point out that you should back up the shaderpackages if trying it out. The guide seems a bit Nvidia specific BTW. How can Nvidia Inspector be "required" for instance - it's an app for Nvidia cards and doesn't even work for ATI cards as far as I know. Somehow I manage to play TTW without it anyway.

Well most of it works, and
Well most of it works, and the shader stuff should too. Blame ATI for removing the ability to edit the driver profiles, you used to be able to in CCC.

Right. But "required" is
Right. But "required" is really overstating it.
I'm generally skeptic to tweak and performance guides. Most come off as if they are written in stone, when lots of stuff are really of questionable value and/or even might lead to issues (such as the shader tip).

Most of them are indeed full
Most of them are indeed full of nonsense, I'll grant you that. All the stuff in his guide is known to work, and there is no placebo settings or nonsense in it. He should reword the "requirement" thing for nvidia cards and make that optional however.
The shader thing works for all cards, it's just picking the right shader package for your card. That should be made more clear, I agree.
