TTW freezes on startup

Post by TrainsCDG » Sun Jan 19, 2014 6:50 am

Hello all

I have been looking through the forum and scrathcing my head for past week trying to get TTW to work. The problem I have is that when I start the game, the slides and music play but I have no control i.e. I cant access steam using shift tab. and no menu shows up, just the NCR Ranger. I have waited for over 4 hours before (went out and left it running) but nothing happens, only to then find in task manager the game has stopped responding and I can only get out of it by singing out.

I am currently running windows 8, with an i5 processor and 900Gb hardrive, with 1Gb ram. I use nexus mod manger and FMM 0.13.21. Fallout New Vegas is steam Game of The Year and Fallout 3 is Disc Game of The Year. Both have the most recent patches and are clean installs (new laptop). The mod was installed using FMM as fomod

This can sometimes happen if your INI files have been modified manually and you forgot to undo it. For example, if you had Darn UI installed, uninstalled, but forgot to change the Fonts section of your INI back to defaults.

The only change to the INI

The only change to the INI files are those required by TTW. WOuld changing fallout 3 to the steam version make a difference?

New development: I deleted the FNV file in my documents, but it seems to keep finidng saved games that have been deleted

Disable Cloud saving for FNV. Right click on FNV in your steam game list, go to properties, click on updates and uncheck Steam Cloud.

Would the cloud load the original ini file or just the saves?

If it works like it does in Oblivion and I'm pretty sure Skyrim, then it keeps both in the cloud. I personaly always disable it on games that can be modded, it's a pain when something goes wrong and the cloud keeps restoring corrupted saves, old outdated files, etc.

I diasbled cloud, reinstalled ttw 3 times using both and a fomod. On one of the fomod attempts only the pitt and anchorage were installed. I started the game without realising and it crashes to desktop, but with the other files added it resumes the normal problem. Would changing to fallout 3 steam make a difference?

Wasn't there an issue with using a 32-bit of an operating system?

Only when trying to use NMM

Only when trying to use NMM or FOMM to install the FOMOD. Manual install works fine on my Vista 32 home premium.
