Problems with Operation Anchorage, fixes not working, and patch confusion.

Post by a friendly hobo » Mon Nov 18, 2013 4:10 pm

Well, here goes.

Basically, TTW was working perfectly up until the end of Operation Anchorage. I could get into the sim no problem, the rest of the DLC ran smoothly (except for a lot of models, walls, items, ect and what not popping out for a few seconds, which righted itself after a few seconds, the AI being dumbasses and running into walls, and both that sergeant guy and the general constally going "sh") right up until I was met with the infamous General Chase not letting me out of the sim bug.

I tried every single fix that's been posted, but nothing worked.

Then I had the idea to patch, which I did. I noticed that the ESMs and ESPs weren't updated, ect, and a lot of annoyed searching and what not went on. I decided to copy the ESMs and ESPs right from the 2.2a install archive and be done with it. I then tried to end the DLC, but to no avail. I tried it with the fix, but again nothing.

Without the ESMs and ESPs (remarkably, I was still able to access my save even if the chinese soldiers and General Chase's heads and shoulders were floating on thin air) the General sent me out of the sim. After the screen flashed white as per the end of the DLC, it crashed. Wasn't too surprised.

So I'm having tons of problems that I need help with. I also should have gone to bed 3 hours ago. Whoopie.

I'm pretty sure I'm running 2.2a. I ran the installer for it, and it said it finished the patch.

I was reading in chat and saw that you installed to an empty folder and it didn't help, did you remember to copy all of the files out of that folder and into your NV data folder? The empty directory is just to make sure the installer isn't getting confused and ensure that your install is good.

Still need a bit more information to know what's going on.

Oh, I didn't do that. I'll try that now.

My TTW mod is supposed to be 2.2a (I used the 2.2a installer), no graphical mods (just a race mod but I've been told that's not the problem), and as for system specs, I've got a very good machine. I'm not sure about specifics, but I'll try and get that all in a moment.

Nope, moving it from the new folder into my current folder didn't work, but there is one more thing I can try.

Alright, I got it to work via unconventional means. I disabled ALL TTW related ESMs and ESPs, and talked to General Chase. He engaged in conversation, which is much farther than I'd been before with the mod, then as the screen was fading to white, I saved and quit. I then activated all TTW ESMs and ESPs and everything is now working. I got out of the simulation (with all of my wasteland and Op Anchorage equipment, I might add) and its all good now.

So I reckon its a problem with the ESMs or ESPs. I still have a save from right before the end so I can test any fixes.

Also, this is my load order in the form of a screen shot.

There were a lot of other problems with Op Anchorage too, like nobody was topside to meet me at the very beginning, before the sim. Then there was no massive fight at the very end.

Oh, and super mutants don't seem to want to use their assault rifles, which I found odd.

The only bug I experienced in

Post by Bastian772 » Wed Nov 20, 2013 1:11 am

The only bug I experienced in Anchorage with TTW installed was General Chase's soft-lock, so I can't really speak for the rest of your experiences, but I can help you with that one.

Another user posted a fix a long time ago that still works to my knowledge, but it requires the weapon packs.  I also believe Chuck posted an update to it that doesn't require them, but that didn't work for me for some reason.

It turns out that bug is caused by a very simple thing within the dialogue, so I made a plugin to fix it for myself.  I didn't post it because I figured it would be a repeat of someone elses work, but since you're the second person I've read about tonight having the problem and you say the posted fixes don't work, I'll attach my fix to the end of this message.  Just make sure you use a save before you kill Jingwei and you'll be able to talk to Chase at the end as you normally would and exit the simulation.
