Files missing from FOMOD

Post by Chaophim » Fri Jul 04, 2014 1:54 am

Okay, so I just reinstalled TTW after encountering missing textures in Tranquility Lane (walls had gaps between them where door jambs, etc., were supposed to be), Point Lookout (both mansions had invisible walls (except for grime splotches), and The Pitt (Ashur's mansion had invisible floors).

That isn't the issue here, but that install was wiped, so I can't verify that the same thing happened then that has happened now.

What has happened now is I did a fresh build/install of TTW via the installer, thinking that the installer had missed textures earlier (it may have - I use texture replacement mods and probably didn't notice bigger gaps where 'core game' assets were used) but was also switching from Mod Organizer to NMM (due to other issues) when I noticed something wrong.

MO did not list the anchorage.bsas this time around.  Curious, I booted FOMM and installed the new fomod that way.  Sure enough, the BSAs were missing from the fomod.  I checked the /main files/ directory in my build directory and they were there...they just weren't in the fomod.

Wondering if there couldn't be a problem with creating such a large fomod in the first place?  I mean I know that some mod managers, especially NMM, have difficulty with such a large FOMOD but could it be that the FOMOD creator is failing and skipping whatever file it failed on adding w/o giving an error message?  If so, would a solution be to have it make smaller fomods, each about 1 gig instead of a monster 5+gig file, that are numbered in the order of installation so that all mod managers can handle the install and that there is less of a window for 'silent failure', if this is the case?

I am using the Steam version of both games, installed outside of the default /Program Files (x86)/ directory, and am using 2.6.3a

Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD 6-core processor, 8GB of RAM

Mod Managers: Mod Organizer 1.2.9, FOMM - Fork 14.10.8, NMM 50.3

TTW Install Log: Not available.  Looked like a clean 'error-free' build.  Not sure where to find the log but have checked both the installer and build directories.  Sorry.

Didn't read Jax's "...or you will be banned" post soon enough to get a load order at the time of discovery.

Symptoms described above

What I have tried is 'nothing, so far', but trying to do some builds tomorrow to see if I can replicate the error.

In the directory you ran the installer from there should be a build folder (I believe that's the name of it). Inside you'll find a main files folder and a optional files folder. Check the main files folder to see if the BSA is there.

ENB? if so open the enb control panel and uncheck use effect to see if it goes away.

Yes and yes on both counts.

Yes and yes on both counts. ENB's very hit or miss. I find that E Enb and Onix both work fine and are wasteland agnostic if they suit your preference, but it also depends on being installed properly.
