OK, I Have Royally Screwed The Pooch...

Post by CSquare43 » Sun Nov 02, 2014 3:17 pm

I have been playing and enjoying TTW for some time now, thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.

When the new upgrade came in, I too wanted to make the change. I have been using Nexus Mod Manager, which is not recommended so I downloaded and tried using FOMM instead. Somehow I messed something (read: everything) up and now I can't get Nexus or FOMM to load the game.

After I messed that install up, I tried doing the manual upgrade which also was unsuccessful. Long story short, I can't play TTW at all at the moment and I'm starting to have the shakes from not being able to get my fix.

Is there a way that I can rescue my game save data and then start with a completely fresh install? Then once installed, get back to playing at my current levels/progress?

"...Help me TTW, you're my only hope..."

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

If you don't care about having to reinstall mods, you could try deleting everything in data\menus

A list of mods you currently have active in your LO would help us narrow down your problem.

more than likely, if the game wont load at all (versus crashing on load) it's just your launcher (in this case fomm)

make sure that your target is set correctly, or possibly, it could be an issue with a misconfigured exe modifier such as an enb or FNV4Gb

I was using Nexus (not recommended). I initially downloaded FOMM but couldn't get that to work either.

It's hanging up during the load screen (where the Ranger is holding the pistol).

I would uninstall and reinstall from scratch.

Are or were you using this FOMM release?

No, that's not the FOMM that I was using. Should I try that one??

I'm not opposed to reinstalling everything, I just don't want to lose my gamesave info. How can I keep that intact?

Thanks!

no need to reinstall just yet

Post by Pavel » Sun Jan 04, 2015 7:53 pm

no need to reinstall just yet, the hanging load screen usually means you are missing masters

this is usually because you forgot to install something, or your plugins are out of order

I don't know how you would do it in NMM, but in FOMM, you can just drag and drop mods to fix the load order

as for what FOMM version, fork is generally accepted as being better (if not a bit slower)

your savegames are not located in your game folder, but in your documents folder, however, if the save is missing a mod dependency, it could cause an immediate crash on load or permanently mess up parts of the game for that save depending on what is missing

Crashing on launch is due to missing masters, hanging load screen usually means that records are trying to be accessed that are no longer there. Usually the case with out of date patches and such. I don't see anything in your LO that I recognize would cause a problem, but I dont recognize alot of them. Your best bet is to disable mods until it works, allowing you to find out which is causing it.
