Can't patch Point Lookout esm.

Post by NILLOC 916 » Wed Jun 11, 2014 5:34 pm

I'm having an issue where when I try to run the installer all goes well until I get to the patching of the esm's. Once the installer reaches PointLookout it displays a message saying

"Your version of PointLookout.esm can't be patched. Currently Tale of Two Wastelands only works on Legal, Fully patched versions of Fallout 3. Install aborted"

After looking in the fourms for a bit I only saw one instance of this happening to someone else and it only occured to that person because they were not using an English version of Fallout 3. I am using English Steam versions of Fallout 3 GOTY and Fallout:NV GOTY. I am using a clean install as well. My system specs are follows :

Operating System - Windows 8.1 64-bit

Processor - 4th generation Intel Quad Core i7-4700MQ, 2.4GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz

RAM - 8GB DDR3

Hard Drive - 1000GB(1TB) 5400RPM

I've tried reinstalling Fallout 3 but still encountered the issue. If anyone could provide any help or advice I would be very grateful.

Did you purchase FO3 Game of the Year version, with all DLC, in a bundle?

Or did you purchase them piecemeal? (e.g. you bought FO3, and then bought the DLCs as the came out.)

We know there are multiple versions of some ESMs and BSAs but we are having trouble tracking them all down.

OK

I'm at a loss then

Are you local to USA?

The installer was built using the USA version of that exact steam game, so your problem is a real conundrum.

If you cleaned your ESM's for Fallout 3 as LOOT suggests, then the installer can't patch the files. You need to use the uncleaned versions if you want to use TTW.

Well, we can't use BOSS

Post by austen1000 » Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:07 pm

Well, we can't use BOSS because it is not going to be updated much, if any, anymore. So, what other options are there? Only with Morrowind do I use something else, because LOOT doesn't support it (though I used something else even with BOSS, because they clearly stated they did not support Morrowind, even though BOSS technically had the ability to sort its load order). So, I just use LOOT, and check for conflicts with FNVEdit. Using the Metadata editor to sort things into the correct order, or create small compatiability patches when needed.
