"One or more of your Fallout 3 BSA files has failed to extract properly."

Post by Amplufyed » Wed Jul 31, 2013 9:35 am

So I've gone through the forums and tried to fix the problem myself doing the validating cache thing and all that but so far been unsuccessful. The only thing I can think to do is completely reinstall New Vegas but that's not even the source of the problem. I just want to play this mod. I've got nothing bad to say about it. I'm not super tech savvy, so I don't even know what I'm doing wrong. I've done all of the required steps up to the installation stage.

BSA issues are usually caused by unrecognized versions: Nothing you can do, wait for the next version of TTW, or Win XP issues with BSAOpt: Use the alternate BSAOpt executable. Theres a thread around here somewhere about it. Still might not work though, so you might still have to wait for the next version of TTW.

When it's done. Modding takes a back seat to a lot of things and any schedule Jax and Chuck might set for themselves could be rendered moot 5 minutes later.

I had this problem. Here's everything I did.

- I'd renamed my music folder to "musicx" or something.  An old trick for those of use who don't like background music in game, this disables it completely, gain performance rather than just turning it all the way down. Pretty obvious problem but y'know, make sure you haven't edited your folders at all.

- Problems persisted. Revalidated NV and FO3 cache.

- Ran as admin.

- What actually fixed it was changing the FO3 folder. I moved it from C:\steam\steamapps\common\fallout3goty to just C:\fallout3goty

Not sure how that fixed it, but it did.

don't fall for their tricks

Be sure the fallout flooders

Be sure the fallout flooders are on the partition you're using : if your game directory to another hard drive it can make this error.

Same thing for the location of ttw patcher : just extract it on default "downloads" flooder.

I'm getting the same error, on Win7 64-bit, with the TTW installer running as administrator from a folder on the desktop, and both Steam FO3 GOTY and Steam FNV UE residing on the same volume (under c:\steam\steamapps\common\).  Just FYI.
