bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 breaking load

Post by angrygoiterboy » Mon Jul 15, 2013 4:33 pm

Was having the face texture issue where the skin color didn't match the body and saw the fix to set  bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles to 1. Doing this, however, freezes my game load and I have at one point been sitting for upwards of an hour and Fallout was simply not responding the entire time. Is there something that could have gone wrong during the mod install to cause this? This fix seems to work for everybody, but it's literally killing my game. :(

I'd deal with it set to 0, and I suppose in the short term I will have to, but it's really jarring sometimes and I play this game because the setting and ambiance are so great. Really takes you out of it to see white face on dark bodies repeatedly, though. Thanks for listening.

Do you know which mod the NPC's are coming from? If so converting that mod to an .esm will also fix the issue. simply open the mod in FNVedit and change the flag and it should be fixed. The issue comes from custom NPC's in .esp's.

Hmm. I'm not running any mods apart from TTW, just to be safe and avoid conflicts. Main example that stood out was Doc Church in Megaton, who clearly isn't from a mod.

Nevermind. Nevermind. I'm a giant idiot. Load order was WAY OUT OF LINE. Corrected the load order and now everything's peachy. Thanks for the help, though. Especially since my next steps are going to be looking to grab some aesthetic mods I like.

Heh, step 1 on this site is very often "Double check the load order."  Glad to see it quickly worked itself out.
