Sounds.BSA Failed to Patch

Post by Fallout_Lad » Wed Jul 03, 2013 7:12 pm

Hi there, I've read through lots of the technical help here and I can't seem to find my problem. I've came across lots of issues with ***.BSA files not patching but I can't find any that mention the Sounds.BSA failing to patch, so please help me out.

Here's the problem,

'TaleOfTwoWastelands - Sounds.bsa failed to patch properly. Please report this bug'

The InstallLog is blank,

Here's what the installer says,

'Installing Tale of Two Wastelands...

Verifying TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa... TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa is already up to date! TaleOfTwoWastelands - Sounds.bsa needs to be built... Extracting Fallout - Sound.bsa... Extracting Fallout - Voices.bsa... Extracting Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa... Copying Radio Music... Cleaning up duplicate sounds... Updating voices... Building TaleOfTwoWastelands - Sounds.bsa... Building complete, checking for patches...'

Like I say, I've read through other topics and tried all of the other solutions I could.

I've used fresh installs of FO3 and NV, I have FO3 GOTY and NV Ultimate Edition - both legit copies off Steam, both patched up-to-date.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit - Boot Camped - running on a 15" Retina Macbook Pro

What I've tried...

- Like I say, from a fresh install

- Changing the name of BSAopt x32 to ...x64 and moving the original ...x64 out of the way.

- Copying both the FO3 and NV folders to the desktop so the path for each is shorter and having the Tale of Two Wastelands folder on its on on the desktop.

Sorry if this has been answered before but I couldn't see it, I'd appreciate any help as I'd really like to get TTW up and running.

If TTW - Main.bsa succeeded

If TTW - Main.bsa succeeded but TTW - Sounds.bsa failed, then it is almost guaranteed to be an issue with your copy of Fallout 3. Use steam to verify files, make sure you are using an english copy of the game.

Hi, I am getting exactly the same issue.

I am definitely using the English version of the game (though I am using the game of the year edition).

My install log in TTW shows:

Installing Tale of Two Wastelands... TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa needs to be built... Extracting Fallout - Misc.bsa... Extracting Fallout - Meshes.bsa... Extracting Fallout - Textures.bsa... Cleaning up duplicate resources... Building TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa... Building complete, checking for patches... TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa patched successfully! Building TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa was successful!   TaleOfTwoWastelands - Sounds.bsa needs to be built... Extracting Fallout - Sound.bsa... Extracting Fallout - Voices.bsa... Extracting Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa... Copying Radio Music... Cleaning up duplicate sounds... Updating voices... Building TaleOfTwoWastelands - Sounds.bsa... Building complete, checking for patches...

I ran the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache Option" and was told:

All files sucessfully validated.

Is there a way to skip the mesh .bsa's and try the sound ones again? this took 2.5 hours to get this far.

Any other suggestions?

(For ref, in my New Vegas data folder, I see :

  • Fallout - Meshes.bsa

  • Fallout - Misc.bsa

  • Fallout - Sound.bsa

  • Fallout - Textures.bsa

  • Fallout - Textures2.bsa

  • Fallout - Voices.bsa

But there are no extra .esms

If your Main.bsa was built

If your Main.bsa was built properly, the patcher will automatically skip building it again and go straight to sounds. In your documents/my games/tale of two wastelands/ folder there is an install log. Attach it here and maybe I can get a better idea.

Update:

Update:

I was able to get round this using the copy everything to two folders on your desktop, install there, copy back method.

I have a suspicion it may be because I use a non standard steam directoy. Not sure. Anyway, the two folders on desktop method used for other issues resolves this.
