Major Install Problem

Post by SlenderHasArrived » Mon Jun 03, 2013 12:44 am

Hey everyone. I just got the GOTY edition of fo3 off of steam and ran it with no problems. I ran the installer from a separate folder and ensured all the directories were correct, but when I click install, it says The procedure entry point RegSetKeyValueA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll

It does this for all 3 of the initial fo3 BSAs then says that 1 or more of the bsas have not extracted properly and then just says cleaning up dupilcate files.

I REALLY want to play this, but at the moment it seems impossible. What can I do?

Well I already had .net framework 4 installed, and I just reinstalled it and it still gave me the same exact error, and I already downloaded and installed the newest 2012 distributable package. So I am still at a loss.

You need 4.5 .net, if you are running Win7 or Vista.

I am on Windows XP. I think it has to do with the BSAOpt program. I've been reading and it seems to be the culprit with many others, because I have all of the required programs installed. I have also tried downloading a new version of the BSAOpt program from the nexus and renamed it as suggested, but it wasn't recognized as being for the correct OS. So I am still at a loss.

One of the hold ups on the release of the next version of TTW is the issue with XP. The problem is being worked on but, if the workarounds do work for you, you may have to wait until the issue is resolved on our end.

did you run the default launcher on both FO3 & FNV at least once up to the start menu?

you need to launch the games with the built in launcher at least once to get them to set the registry entries.

Yes I've launched both games through the regular vanilla launchers.
