To pretty much sum up what

Post by CDTalmas » Fri Jul 05, 2013 1:23 pm

To pretty much sum up what everyone else on these forums is saying, re-installing over 130 mods is a mere child's play compared to the endless weeks/months of aggravation from not determining the problem child.  TTW is fun and fixes up a TON of errors about the game.  Think Mission Mojave on steroids (or NVEC, as I previously mentioned).  That said, mod compatibility takes a... well, not necessarily a nose dive but it requires more attention.

It takes me about a week to get all my mods reinstalled and that's pussy-footing and taking my sweet time.  A dedicated modder like yourself should have no problems getting them all reinstalled in a matter of a day or two at most.  I've 114 items in my load order (more if you count the inactive ones for sake of memory).  Consider the major game altering mods first to be looked at, like that alternate start mod.  Then quest mods that tie into the background story, like FOOK 2 (F3 version).  Finally, try posting a load order and we'll see if we can't figure out what's causing it.  Still, if after disabling everything non-TTW isn't working, uninstall your mods and/or do a fresh TTW and FNV install (do the TTW install to an outside folder to make it quick and easy to reimplement).  That's all the advice I (and we) can give.

Can't you just upload one? Going back re-installing NV and the mods is like a death sentence :S

First I must apologize if my post will sound angry or anything like that, that is not my intention, it's just that my doctor took me off my meds for a couple of days so I can start on a different ones and I am suffering withdrawal which messes up my head and also makes me cranky.

Posting a save game so early in the game will probably not help at all, if your game is having troubles because of the mods so early, even with a save game you will be pretty much guaranteed get problems later too, and probably get other crashes even before you get out of the vault 101, also even with an alternate start mod (which IIRC TTW doesn't like much either) there is no guarantee that you won't have the game crashing later too, with luck whatever mod or mods that are making the game crash there will not make it crash later, but in my experience you will be very luck if that happens (not saying it's impossible, but just very probable).

Also TTW is still in Alpha version, it's not even a Beta version, the user/player is informed that they install it at their own risk, and advised not to play with any mods, of course that the team is amazing and already have an alpha version quite stable but it still doesn't change the fact that it is still very early to be using mods with it, my advice is to always install mods one by one and like tjmidnight420 said only after you reach the outside world/wasteland for the first time (even vanilla FO3 had problems during the vault 101 beginning using mods, it's just a really sensitive part of the game).

You say that is like a death sentence to install NV again and TTW and all the other mods, well I do agree it is a PITA but which one is bigger, having to spend time installing everything again now, or have the game crash later after you made a character and played for several hours and then just reach a point where the game always crash and your only option is to have to install everything again?

I do hope you make your game work and can enjoy TTW but what tjmidnight420 said is the only right way to fix it and so I just want you to realize that if later your game becomes unplayable and you ask for help remember that it is very probable that the reason is a mod and that your only way out will be having to reinstall everything again .

Well, The alternate start didn't work, I think you got a point, I should re-install everything, Even before TTW, I've been crashing every hour or so anyways, Thanks.

I said that, and was legitimately trying to help. Look: 130 mods ain't shit. I've got more than that merged into a single esm in my Modded TTW folder. I'm also the guy that takes 4 months to merge them in, one at a time so I can fix them as I go along. My Modded TTW game is pretty stable, moreso than you'll find with a bugfix patch. Point being: If you want to play Fallout 3/ NV/ TTW/ any Bethesda game you can expect to either be putting in the time to make it work right, or putting in time wondering why it isn't working right. My exact words in the second post of this thread were "This is required for the stability of your game." Like I said if you choose not to listen to me, and the people who've come in behind me and said the same thing, it's not gonna hurt my feelings. I'll be too busy playing a stable TTW to care.

You can always make a new

Post by frenzyslave » Mon Sep 23, 2013 7:53 am

You can always make a new folder called "After Exit Plugins" and cut and paste your 120 odd plugins into that temporarily. Go through the beginning and blah de blah, and after exiting you cut and paste the plugins back into your data folder.

Just the non-TTW .esp and .esm plugins that is.

Its being lazy with purpose - not uninstalling mods, but shifting the plugins out of the way so they don't load... ;)

Here - And they are correct, TTW doesn't support any mods yet so please take the advice and remove all mods with a CLEAN install to test until further notice this should be conciderd SOP.

If you don't like the name you can change it when you go to Vegas or use console to pull up the editor.
