Just delete your TTW.bsa and run the updater again so that it will regenerate it from scratch.

I'm sorry, but this is a very bad gameplay decission. I just updated from a pretty early version and was going mental as I saw, that I were unable to enter the old train station. But it's not just that I'm nostalgic, placing the train in the middle of DC is a pain. If you like travelling between the wastelands frequently while omitting fast travel this is just a nuisance. It's good for the first time you want to go to the Mojave, I'll give you that. But after your first visit there it is just annoying. At least for users without fast travel.

Sorry, but this change was the worst decission you ever made.

It's too bad that you don't

It's too bad that you don't like it. You're the only person I know of who's ever bitched about it. We're going to have to really rethink the work we're doing here now because you don't like it. There is another option though: learn to mod and change it yourself instead of bashing decisions you didn't get to make. Seriously, that post made it sound as if you think we're working on TTW just for you.

Fair point: there are now

Post by TrickyVein » Fri Apr 18, 2014 3:48 pm

Fair point: there are now more doors and loading times that you have to suffer in order to move between Wastelands in 2.4 then in previous versions.*

We could potentially reduce this number by at least 1 through combining the wee-small Judiciary Square Metro with Penn. Ave/The Mall Metro.

So that would leave you with the following transitions (From the Mall):

  1. Penn. Ave/The Mall Metro (including judicary square metro) →

  2. Columbus Circle →

  3. Union Station →

  4. Union Station Tracks →

  5. Train Interior →

  6. New Vegas

*If you're curious there is a mod here on the site to use a vertibird to fly between the wastelands. You can search for it.

In previous versions of TTW the number of transitions was fewer (from The Wasteland outisde of Dukov's):

  1. Union Station →

  2. Union Stations Tracks →

  3. Train interior →

  4. New Vegas

At least I think. Chuck will have to back me up on this if that's true. So that's two to three extra transitions depending on if we make further changes. Is that really so bad?

Furthermore, if you elect to fast-travel to Columbus Circle then you're left with the same number of transitions to New Vegas then if you were fast-traveling to Dukov's Place in previous versions of TTW.

Don't forget that Dukov's Place is much more easy to access than the mall. His point is valid IF AND ONLY IF fast travel is disabled in TTW. But it's not. He is yelling at us because TTW does not work with a mod he has installed in a way he expected. Ironically, disabling fast travel is a realism tweak, and the union station changes are also realism based.

TrickyVein mentioned a vertibird mod, I will add to his suggestion, there is also a mod that adds locations to the Big Mountain Transportalponder, there is a mod also here that adds a caravan that allows to travel to NV and there is actually more than one vertibird mod here.

Fast travel is part of Fallout 3 and Fallout NV games, many players don't like it so they don't use it. But the point of not using fast travel is to make the game more realistic, if someone disables fast travel they need to be ready to walk everywhere all the time (that is why fast travel was included in this new fallout games, so players don't have to spend hours just walking from one side of the map to the other if they don't want to).

The new station is a great piece or effort, time and work by part of the TTW team, you have no idea how much people worked to have something unique to TTW and so awesome that would blow the mind of the players when they see it. If unfortunately you're not happy about it you have two choices, or you stop using TTW and use any other mod that allows to merge both games, or mod what you disagree with by making it how you want it to be.

By the way, thousands of TTW users downloaded TTW 2.4 and we got one person saying it is the worst decision we ever made and many others saying that the station is like a work of art, that they love it and it is amazing and even thanking the team for all their work and effort into making it, that doesn't sound like the worst decision we ever made laugh.

Id imagine the reason (one of many to be sure, but in my experience the main one) that nobody bitched about the location was because you dont need to use a mod to disable fast travel. Just dont use it. So if you suddenly feel like going to the Mojave and for some reason havent picked up the other alternate travel mods, dont know how to use the console, and arent prepared to walk for a bit (which, as has been stated is the whole point of no-fast-travel gameplay) its readily available.

Also, qq moar, your tears are delicious.

In order to cut back on the people going "Help it's not working" and then providing no information, here is a quick guide to what we need to help you.

  • System Specs (including Operating System, Processor, and Memory, nobody cares about your graphics card)

    • Windows 8.1, Intel i7-3630QM, 10GiB RAM because I'm weird

  • Mod Manager and Version

    • The TTW FOMODs are installed via FOMM, but all other mods are in NMM. This is because of the (apparently already known) issue in which NMM garbage-collects something too early.

  • TTW Install Log (My Documents\my games\TaleOfTwoWastelands\Install Log.txt)

    • Attached.

  • Current Load Order (Most mod managers have a quick and easy way to export this)

    • Also attached.

    • In Addition, I'm running the Wrapper version of ENBSeries, and (obviously) NVSE.

  • Symptoms (What is it doing vs. What you expect it to be doing)

    • I'm in the train in D.C. Union Station. I pull the level, it asks whether I want to stay in D.C. or progress to the Mojave. I choose the Mojave. I see "Nine Years Later", and the intro to Fallout: New Vegas proceeds to play. After it completes (or I hit Escape, there is no difference either way), my character cannot move, and the screen is black besides the HUD. I'd expect to see something and be able to move.

  • What you have already tried?

    • When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout?

    • GetPlayerControlsDisabled returns that most of my controls are disabled.

    • COC Goodsprings does (apparently) move me to Goodsprings, but the screen remains black other than the HUD.

Additionally, we'd like to have some information on your specific version of Fallout 3:

I'm going to assume that you want both Fallout 3 and New Vegas' info.

New Vegas: Originally purchased on a DVD, which was one of those nifty Steam-required discs. It did not originally come with the DLCs, so I purchased them on this most recent Summer Sale via buying the entire Ultimate Edition, as it was cheaper. I have reinstalled the entire game since buying the Ultimate Edition, including deleting its directory in SteamApps.

Fallout 3: Purchased GOTY in the Summer Sale.

Try disabling the TTW

Post by Risewild » Sat Jun 21, 2014 11:39 am

Try disabling the TTW_StartupMenu.esp, if you start in DC you don't need to enable that esp, it is used for those people who want to start in NV instead of Vault 101 smiley.
