Greetings and salutations!

Post by Sh4d0w225 » Sat Jul 30, 2016 4:20 pm

Hello everyone, I recently joined up on this website, I have been considering getting this mod for a really long time but when I get around to maybe get it.. I am put simply OVERWHELMED by it all, I get confused if I need to install fallout 3 and fallout NV or just the one game, Also get confused as to how the crap I even get it installed to begin with.

Confused considering whether or not I can use the nexus mod manager and with me being me, I also don't know at all how to get other mods installed to run alongside this enormous mod..

I am simply.. Overwhelmed, seeing how I have no real education and my general knowledge when it comes to computers is a bit.. Limited.

SO! Here I am, pants at my feet and I beg of anyone to maybe help answer me and assist me in any way. What mods can I get alongside with this mod? Which mods are simply MUST HAVE to go along with this? What's every ones general recommendation!

All these things. Now! I wasn't sure if this is supposed to be posted here or elsewhere so please be gentle upon my buttocks! Don't tear me a new one basically.

Again, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

It's really not all that

It's really not all that complicated or overwhelming. Just look at the links that RoyB pointed out. Also there is a youtube video that might help you as well. Sometimes visually seeing along with written instructions can make it a bit easier.

I just created an account

I just created an account here yesterday as well.  First I want to say I'm absolutely amazed by how well the process of integrating the 2 games works and by how stable it is (MUCH more stable than Fallout 3). I had been wanting to try Mod Organizer after having used both NMM and FOMM and since I knew I would have to reinstall all of my mods anyway I figured it was a good time to give TTW a try.  Even after only playing it a few days I can't see myself ever going back.

I do have a few tips that might make your modding experience a bit smoother:

1.  Use Mod Organizer.  It handles conflicts better than NMM or FOMM (at least the versions I had been using).  It does have a bit of a steeper learning curve than the other 2 so I would recommend watching the tutorial videos on how to use it.  Gopher does a fantastic set of videos on it.

2.  Use LOOT after every mod install.  Most issues people have with working mods are due to load order and LOOT pretty much does that for you.  You can tweak the order if you want but you probably won't ever need to.  The mod assets you'll still need to set the order for yourself if you're using MO.

3.  Most if not all of the New Vegas performance/stability mods work with TTW without any tweaks so definitely make sure to get a good set of those working first.  I like OneTweak for FNV, MCM, CASM with MCM, New Vegas Stutter Remover, NVAC, oHUD, and UIO.

4.  Make sure to look at the directory structure of any mod you install before you install it.  Mod authors will usually give instructions on how to properly install their mod but many of them do not come prepackaged the way the mod managers prefer (like burying the expected data folder in multiple directories or requiring you to move optional files around before installing.)

Anyway good luck and hope you get it working, it's worth it when you do.  I just installed TTW 4 days ago and so far have 75 plugins working with it.

Mod Organizer can have issues

Post by RoyBatty » Thu Aug 25, 2016 6:14 pm

Mod Organizer can have issues with archive invalidation and with hud mods. YMMV

LOOT does not work well with TTW, Fallout 3 or New Vegas. There's a thread here on how to manually sort your load order.

Enjoy your TTW. :)
