Charon and Weapons

So, I know that Charon now has a Lever Action Shotgun instead of a Combat Shotgun, as that's what the developers decided. What I'm wondering is, is how do I make Charon use other weapons? I want Charon to use the Terrible Shotgun with slugs, but all he uses is the lever shotgun. I hate to say this, but I question why the developers chose to use the LAS when the FO3 Combat Shotgun is superior, with its larger magazine and higher DPS. Is there a way to have Charon use other weapons other than his own, or is he stuck with his own gun?

He should use which gun he "thinks" its better. Also he needs ammo for the gun you give him or he will not use it.


I know there was a reason why his weapon was changed (balance or maybe it was something about his animations that made us change it) but it was so many years ago that I don't remember anymore, but...


...he will be using his combat shotgun again in the next release of TTW anyway since we fixed the problem (in public dev log number 7). wink

I gave him 132 shells for the Terrible Shotgun, but all he uses is the Lever action. I think he's just hard-coded to use his gun and his gun only, no matter how good the weapon given to him is

That was a bug and has been fixed for TTW 3.0 too (I thought it was already fixed on TTW 2.9.4b but it was fixed on the companions overhaul test plugin instead, which was merged into 3.0).

Yep it was a vanilla bug where Charon was force equipped to his "scene" shotgun for killing ahzrukhal and it was then never removed so he would only use that weapon.

Charon is still using the shotgun in my run. I've given him Eugene and 100+ rounds of 5mm and he doesn't equip it.

It doesn't. After I removed the shotgun using console commands he started using the Minigun, and when it ran out of ammo he went back to using the default shotgun.
