In New Vegas

Post by Nofsdad » Fri Oct 23, 2015 9:22 pm

Just made my first trip to New Vegas after playing most of FO3 and leveling my PC.  Came up in Doc's house again, naked, with no posessions, etc which I assume is normal.  My follower is in the house with me and being bitchy as ever.

But I can't use my mouse to control my PC.  I can zoom or strike out, etc with the buttons but I can't change directions for the PC by moving the mouse and there doesn't seem to be any X-Y axis settings in the control mapping part of settings where I can try to find out why or reset the controls.

I don't want to lose the hours of play in DC by starting a new game and I'm wondering if there's a setting I can check or some way I can fix this.

Have you completed all of the initial conversations with Doc and been asked to move to the vigor tester? After you do all of that stuff, he is supposed to give you your stuff back and until he asks you to go to the vigor tester you cannot move at all. I suspect I am stating the obvious, but your post does not indicate whether you have finished the initial chargen part of the Doc Mitchell quest.

My computer specs are too embarrassing to reveal, but the game still runs.

I can move but only straight

I can move but only straight forward, backward, side to side.  I can't turn my character in any direction and am stuck looking straight forward.  I haven't tried having any conversations with him yet since it won't do any good until I can fix this mouse thing so I can move normally. I think I'm going to try to coc myself from the DC train station to Goodsprings and then enter his house and see if I can initiate conversation with him that way. Everything works fine right up until the train ride.

Edit: I did all the chargen stuff at the beginning of the game and wound up in DC upon trying to exit Doc's house, so he doesn't initiate that conversation with me as in a new start now that I'm back there.

Huh? Started game in Doc Mitchell's house and ended up in DC upon exiting his house? That sounds like a really screwed up game. Perhaps you should follow the site rules and provide the information such as installation log, load order and computer specs and maybe someone can help you. Please use pastebin for posting load order and installation log and provide a link to that.

You have a mod that edits the quest and breaks TTW.

Suspected as much. I've removed all the converted FO3 mods and the only FNV mod I have specifically for TTW is the TTW version of Monster Mod.  Oh well, I'll find it eventually.  Sorry about my violation of site rules.

It's difficult to troubleshoot without any information except "My game doesn't work".
