Mothership Zeta Difficulty

So I installed TTW a while back and really enjoyed it, but never got around to the FO3 addons until recently. I started Mothership Zeta at a high level (40ish) and am really surprised at how much punishment the aliens take. It takes probably around 8 AP AMR rounds to the head to kill a shielded alien. With 100 guns skill and a fairly high crit rate. If I understand it, enemies don't level with the player, rather you just encounter harder and harder subtypes of enemies to fight. So...whats the deal here? Are the shielded aliens just that tough to take out and I'm encountering so many cause of my ridiculous level? I've seen some playthroughs of the DLC in FO3 and it doesn't seem to be that difficult. I've heard that this DLC is definitely one of the tougher ones but...guess I just wasn't expecting that level of difficulty. And on Normal no less. Am I just doing something wrong?

I had the same issue, I ended up modding the Ex-B to do 600 damage

Well, I did some digging and found out that the shields roughly quadruple their durability.  I don't know how the DR rating translated to DT with TTW but in the original add-on, the shield gave a DR of 110. Man...I guess I probably should have done this at a lower level.

Um, how are you able to play it without crashes? Zeta crashes up the yin-yang for me! Latest TTW btw.

The "inertial dampener"

The "inertial dampener" shield effect has stacked effects based on the Alien's level. Damage Reduction is also glitched and applies twice as much to creatures. This is what ends up causing the ridiculous 110 DR even though it's supposed to be only 55. This was not fixed in New Vegas, but this bug was fixed for DT.


Halve the values of the DR boost on the effect to make them more like what they were originally intended.
