Post by justanatom » Sat Dec 06, 2014 10:36 pm

This started out as a bit of a little idea that was kicked around in the chat and i thought "what the hell, let's post 'em and see if we can get them to work". So let's get this ball rolling with a couple challenge ideas.

  • **you cannot start out with training. earn it.

  • never turn down a fight.

Optional:

  • Play in Hardcore/Project Nevada

  • if in PN, only allowed to modify your left arm with cyberware.

  • Grib's Perk that he so generously whipped up

Feel free to come up with your own challenge runs, if you can use the same format then please do, and if you want to mod the game to help your challenge run then feel free.

Edit: i whipped up a small mod that adds a footlocker just outside of vault 101 that contains all the challenge run item choices. have fun!

Edit 2. kinda accidentally mesed with the rocks outside of vault 101. ignore it.

Made a quick perk thingy that should give you an extra 10 DT when blocking with any melee weapon. Auto-adds when you start the game.

Not tested, no support provided, use at your own risk. Merge or do with it whatever you will.

No Looting

Simple, you can't loot any containers (unless it's to get a quest item). That includes bodies. You can only get equipment from buying it, picking it up from a place that it's visible, or via quest reward.

Melee run.

No firearms/energy weapons of any kind, only melee, unarmed, or thrown weapons. Grenades are ok, mines are not. If you're running PN, no arm implants other than Nanobiotic Weave.

Ooh, just thought of a fun one. Luck Run

Here's the rules:

1) No fancy just guns mods. Overhauls like FOOK or PN are ok, nothing that just adds guns and nothing else.

2) If you use an overhaul like Project Nevada, vanilla settings.

3) No bobblehead collecting, implants, or use of perks like Intense Training. Quest-reward SPECIAL boosts such as Ant Might and Ant Sight are ok.

4) Luck must be either 10 or 1, nothing in between. Other stats unrestricted.

So keep the game easy (vanilla settings) and go for the OP build people have been doing since the game came out (10 luck, get super rich in vegas) or minmax yourself in another direction? That one sounds pretty easy TBH.

I actually frequently do 1 luck runs. Unless you are doing a crit build the luck bonuses are negligable and the extra critical hits are fairly non-threatening. And if you are worried about them still you can counteract it by talking moira out of the WSG. Allows for nice builds, especially if you also tank your Charisma.

I actually have'nt tried a melee run or a luck build in Fo3 or FNV...

10 luck with no intense training seems kinda extreme to me.

My playthrough ussually I just have avarage Attributes of 4-6 and have these tags, guns, explosives, and repair (agonize about survival vs medicine).  Turn on hardcore.

Might actually just be nice to try out some other way to play the game I hadnt thought of.
