Started in Mojave as the Courior

Post by Ulithium_Dragon » Sat Jan 25, 2014 12:03 am

I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but from what I can glean from reading this site, I'm only realizing now that I should have started out in the Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3. Instead, I seemed to have started in the Mojave as you normally would in vanilla Fallout: NV.

The weird thing is that I'm only just realizing this now, as I was able to travel from the Mojave to the Capital Wasteland just fine using the train station. The Fallout 3 DLC quests even only triggered when I entered the Capital Wasteland... I only figured this out when I ttried to see where to go pick up the Fallout 3 main quest.

I read somewhere on this site that it's not a good idea to use a custom race, but I am, so is this bug related to that? From all I can tell, A Tale of Two Wastelands installed propperly - I even get the banner on the main menu.

*I do appoliogize if this should be in the Technical Support section, I wasn't entierly sure where it belonged, since this isn't a hardware issue or an issue of the game not running. All the content seems to be there, I just started in the wrong place!

You really should use the searchbar, people have had this problem before and it's been addressed.

Fixing the start in NV thing:

Fixing the start in NV thing:

You need to make an edit to your .INI file so that you start the game properly.  This is normally done by the .fomod when it is installed.

  • The file you're looking for is C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini

  • You may also want to make the changes in FalloutDefault.ini in the game folder as well, if you use the normal game launcher for some reason.  Using that launcher overwrites Fallout.ini with the values in FalloutDefault.ini every time it's run.

  • Make these changes:

    • SCharGenQuest = 001FFFF8

    • sIntroMovie = (yes this one is blank on purpose, it needs to be blank)

    • bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles = 1

Using the custom races shouldn't affect where you start. I advise you to read this thread (particularly the third post made by TJ):

Thank you, and I did search this topic a bit, but I really couldn't think of any relevant keywords to search for in this situation...

Anyways, this makes sense as to why it didn't use the .ini edit. I've been using Mod Organizer for all my games and for some reason I kept getting errors trying to run the included FOMOD, so I had to zip the files and install it without using the FOMOD.

The problem is caused by a bug with NMM, or if you use normal FOMM. To fix you'll need to use large address aware FOMM (there's a download somewhere on this site), and install the FOMOD with the updated FOMM.exe.
