Hate to burst your bubble

Post by LightningManGTS » Thu Nov 12, 2015 6:30 pm

Hate to burst your bubble friend but the Sole Survivor wakes up on October 23, 2287, that's 5 or 6 years after the second battle for the Dam (give or take depending on whether or not the player clears the main quest before new years) the start for FO4 is simply too incompatible with FO3 and FNV, so much so that you'd be better off either overriding FO4 entirely to reimplement TTW in the newer engine or do what other projects did and add a "tales from liberty city" button to the main menu for TTW stuff.

This is all without saying how impossible this would be to begin with without Bethesda themselves making hd remakes/getting someone like obsidian to do so for them (which is effectively what the previously stated would have accomplished)

:edit:

this was a reply off of the second to last post on the first page, for some reason I was oblivious to the fact there was a second page in this topic and confused myself for a bit when I saw Rise's post thinking I somehow posted in some new or wrong thread XD

Honestly it bugs me every time i see this question asked, like the big list Rise gave above while its techinally possible to be done the required work is way too much for a simple mod, its like asking make Mario 64 to Galaxy.

The only thing we can hope for is that Obsidian can make a sequel to Fallout and then MAYBE have a brand new Tales of Two Wastelands.

However if this voiced MC sticks on the franchise that would be a problem for some people who prefer to the be the same character in both games.

Sorry mate, didn't want to be misinterpreted, with 'we' i mean the modders enthusiasts.

That being said, the chronology seems to be a problem and a solution at the same time, because FO4 happens before in history them FO3 and FNV,

In the offical time line, FO4 is 10 years AFTER FO3 (and X years after FNV), so the story line is perfect for T3W, what you need is "change" the PC of FO4 into a voiced NPC follower.

In short, if there is a T3W, you the PC will be the Lone wander from Vault 101, saved (or screwed) Capital wasteland, go west and become the couries, saved (or screwed) NCR again and head back home. On your way home, you ventured into Vault 111 and found a surviver........

And that somewhat make lots of story loop-holes in FO4 storyline (such as early access to power armor, no urge to find your son...etc) makes much more sense too.

But to be honest, I feel more make-sense to port lots of interesting followers and voiced mod followers (such as Willor and Niner) to FO4. Because, there are a few FO3 characters shown up in FO4, it will be weird to have your FO follower along while meeting his younger-self in CW.........

Post by TJ » Tue Nov 24, 2015 5:18 pm

[FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm not working on anything I'm about to discuss for a potential Tale of Three Wastelands, but the information I bring forth directly relates to that potential, future project.]

First, I'd like to offer proof that FNV.esm will open in FO4Edit:

[collapsed title=Image][/collapsed]

Note the access violation listed right before where FO4Edit stopped loading. That's because I missed something that has to be removed from the plugin before it will load properly. That's right, large swaths of what makes FNV tick has to be completely removed before FO4 will even recognize it as a valid plugin... including everything related to needs and every single bit of the gambling systems.

TL;DR: Future's not looking too bright for this project.

and with all the good stuff gone, the best option is just rebuild from scratch.  as the teammember with the most time on his hands but half the skill, i can definitely say "ain't nobody got time for that"

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

Tales of Three Wastelands

Post by zilav » Wed Nov 25, 2015 7:14 am

Tales of Three Wastelands doesn't mean they should be Bethesda tales, you can go the DUST way for example - use FO3 and FNV worldspaces and interiors; replace npcs, weapons, etc. with FO4 ones; create muties/raiders/enclave bases; place workbenches for players to build their settlements; script radiant AI attacks, etc. Then maybe later you if have enough resources, write your own main quest line here with voice acting, slowly update textures and models that look the worst and so on.

Technically this is all possible, the question is - does anyone want to do that? While it magnitudes easier than converting all the quests, dialogues and scripts, still it is a big effort.

Yes, zilav. I was originally looking into the FNV.esm for the worldspaces and cells. Having the card games and such would've been nice, but I'd like for people to at least have the worlds and cells to build in. I'm right there with you in that consideration.

That is a consideration yes.

That is a consideration yes. We already have these things in New Vegas by using mods...

Myself I just don't care enough about the new rendering engine and mechanics to want to do anything like that. If I'm going to put that much effort into something, I'd rather just create a mod that makes Fallout 4 more the game that fans of New Vegas wanted.
