While technically possible, even that would be a massive undertaking.

If you really want Tale of Three Wastelands, just wait till The Frontier comes out. I'm already playing Tale of Three Wastelands with Frontier and let me tell you it's awesome :)

No offense, the frontier's an amazing mod and I can't wait to play it, but there's a big difference between playing a large addon to a game from 2010 and being able to replay both fallout 3 and new vegas on fallout 4's engine. Anyways, I'm not entitled so I'm not gonna act like anyone has to make this, although I think we can all agree it would be the ultimate fallout when completed.

My offer is still active - if someone converts FO3 and FNV meshes to FO4 (Bethesda released official tools to export valid FO4 NIFs with collision, so it is possible with some scripting and automation approach), then I'll convert ESM files.

They didn't release Havok though, and that costs a lot of money (64 bit version).

You don't need Havok, their Elric tool handles collision itself afaik.

Besides HCT is free and available for anyone http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15014

A lot of nifs have complex collision with multiple mat types, that tool just adds a simple collision mesh does it not?

Official nif plugin exports

Post by zilav » Wed Aug 31, 2016 5:58 am

Official nif plugin exports collisions in "old" format as shapes, and official Elric tool (obviously built with Havok lib) compiles them into the new FO4 collision format and replaces old collision nodes in exported nif with the new compiled one working in the game.

I never used them myself, it was jonwd7's (the current NifSkope upkeeper) description on official forum when they released those tools.

To slightly necro this thread: I think ensuring compatibility with mods that are essentially their own DLC with their own worldspaces like Project Brazil and Fallout: The Frontier would be a more worthwhile undertaking, assuming these huge mods get completed; though I wouldn't necessarily make it a priority of the TTW staff. Part of what attracted me to TTW is the amazing amount of content added to FalloutNV by the TTW cross-compatibility. There are also ridiculously huge mods like this for FO3 too which would be awesome to have compatibility with. It would be awesome to see this for FO4 but I expect this would take a year or two at least, partly to let the modding community and tools fully mature. Coming back to Fallout and TES modding it's amazing what's available now compared to just a year ago--some critical resources got really fleshed out compared to before.
