I thought we used the loader

Post by plumjuice » Thu Mar 20, 2014 7:29 am

I thought we used the loader for FNV (and Skyrim too for that matter) because steam throws a hissy fit if you change the exe itself. TBH I don't actually remember checking blush

When you install 4GNV create a folder called "exes" and put the d3d9.ddl in there while putting the rest of the ENB files in the regular Fallout Directory (not the data folder)

If you are using ENB v216+,

If you are using ENB v216+, you technically do not need the 4GNV.  However if you still want to use 4GNV, then yes you either need to create the folder "/FONV/exes" (technically speaking 4GNV creates this for you - at least it did so for me when I used it last) and do everything else LaEspada stated.  Make sure to do this in your /FONV/enblocal.ini or it will use your ENB settings in 4GNV (at least that was my experience) ...

Pretend he didn't say that. That's horrible advice. Until FNV gets an LAA update (it wont) you need FNV4GB (you do). I don't care if you have the most optimized enb, your NVAC catches everything, NVSR is set up perfectly, you don't use any hires textures or replacers, and your aunt Sally said you didn't need it. If you have an x64 system and more than 2gb of RAM - USE FNV4GB. :dᴉʇoɹԀ

To answer Zen's question, if you have 4GB set up already take the injector d3d9.dll and place it in your FNV folder. Then copy it to your .exe folder inside the 4gb folder. Then set up your enb like normal.

TJ, are you stating that ENB Boost does not work?  I really do not have evidence of it not working but if you have put hours into testing 4GB vs ENB Boost, I will take your word for it or I probably will any way.  I have not experienced any problems myself especially since I learned how to use ENB Boost and do not use the 4GB Loader.

They synergize.

ENBoost has to kick in less often, since the 4GB loader can handle more memory before hitting a limit.

I'm saying I use everything I listed above to make my game stable, plus I micromanage the content of my mods.

The first step though - is 4gb loader.

Roger that!  I am already looking into using the update 4GB Loader.  Although, I need to use the wrapper version.
