Question about Fallout 3 installation

Post by lorenar » Wed Feb 25, 2015 11:56 am

Hi,

I have just installed TTW for the first time and as any noob out there have a ton of questions. I cleared out most of them through the FAQ, but there is something important I must know, which I couldn't find (I am certain that the answer is out there, I just wasn't able to find it).

It is obvious that I must own both games in order to run the TTW installer, but as far as I understand it the installer just takes what it needs from the Fallout 3 folder and adds it to the FMOD. Does that mean that I can uninstall Fallout 3 after the TTW installer finishes?

I am asking this as I am using an SSD for the installation and as with most SSD's space is quite limited. If I can uninstall Fallout 3 after the FMOD is done it will save me several GB. Otherwise I may have to reinstall it on another drive.

Thanks in advance.

You can uninstall FO3 after running the TTW installer and getting the fomod files, but you will need to install FO3 again to update your TTW every time we release new versions.

Thank you for the quick response. That will be ok then, I will just reinstall it on a different drive when I need to update it and leave it there.

lorenar, you don't have to

lorenar, you don't have to install FO3 on the same drive as New Vegas to run the installer.  I have FO3 loaded onto an old 8gig flashdrive that I simply plug into the computer whenever I update versions.  It has saved me from a few installs/uninstalls.
