Where To? Help w/ TTW mod conversion installion directories

Post by DireWulvyn » Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:06 am

Bonjour, Aarooo!

I've modded my Fallout games before as separate games, but I could use some concise information as I'm somewhat confused here about where I'm suppose to install converted Fallout 3 mod assets/data.

As TTW reformats FO3 and FO3 converted mods to run on the FNV engine, my really noob questions are as follows;

Does TTW use both FO3 and New Vegas directories running the game, accessing both for data and assets?

Or;

Is everything now moved to and run strictly out of the New Vegas directory, meaning all the installations of converted FO3 mods now get installed into the FNV directory alone?

I need some help clearing up my confusion over which directory/directories they should go into. Most of the info I've read so far is pretty clear, for examples;

Alton, IL

Install info: Download the original mod, install it into your New Vegas data folder, then overwrite the .esm and .esp with the converted ones provided.

Magnificent. Tells me where everything goes, right into the NV directory.

Or;

FNV clothes and armors: Install these normally.  Make sure to OVERWRITE ALL when installing these.

Marvelous. So, into the NV directory then.

Or;

Muldoon Electronics

Install info: Only the .esp is required. Miraculous. It's only an esp, into the NV directory then.

But then I see.....

Sydney Follower

Install info: All assets are provided. Awesome. Love her. Fly me to the Moonbeam. Where do I install her to?

Or;

FO3 clothes and armors: Extract and install the meshes and textures folders ONLY: Sweet. DC eyecandy for all! Where to?

Or;

More2Megaton

Install info: Grab the original mods assets, overwrite the esp. Grand. Place was so boring. Where to put the assets and original esp?

Now I know any New Vegas mods are installed normally into the NV directory via whatever chosen means.

I guess my question is quickly answered if EVERYTHING that an FO3 mod is related to, all the original data [BSAs, meshes, textures, sounds, ESMs/esp's, etc., etc] gets installed into the FNV directory?

Then overwrite or replace the ESMs/esp's and other pertinent data with whatever the TTW conversion for said FO3 mod requires?

You do not install anything

You do not install anything in the Fallout 3. TTW doesn't touch your Fallout 3 game at all (you actually only need it installed so that TTW can use the Fallout 3 vanilla game and DLC files and convert them to run on the NV engine and other changes to allow that to happen).

Consider all TTW mods as Fallout NV mods that need TTW to be able to work properly and not crash your game.
