Lore Question: Returning to the Capital Wasteland

While TTW doesn't STRICTLY follow Fallout canon, it's pretty close. Hence, my question: How long does it take to return to the Capital Wasteland? The way I presumed the journey to Vegas happened, there were lots of bumps, stops and crazy adventures, and then you get shot in the head. But how long does it take to go home?

Alright, so it's not a significant amount of time in terms of the battle for Hoover Dam. :) Does the game actually pass on the in game clock?
