Not-English game... Impossible to install TTW?

Post by xiang » Tue Nov 06, 2012 5:04 pm

Hi guys, i'm new here, and i finally found you after 4-5 mounth of desperation. XD

I always followed the developpement of this project since it's beginning, and i'm happy to see it has come near an end.

I'd like to download this version, but there is already a big problem:

  • Legal, English versions of Fallout 3 patched to 1.7 with all DLC content (or Fallout 3 Game Of The Year Edition) installed on your computer

  • Legal, English versions of Fallout New Vegas patched to 1.4 with all DLC content (or Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition) installed on your computer

Yeah, as you already got by my not perfect english, i'm from italy, and obviously i have the Italian version of Fallout 3 (with all dlc bought when they were released) and the Italian version of Fallout New Vegas (with all dlc bought when released and also the 4 special packs bought separately).

So first of all:

1) It is ok if i don't have the Game Of The Year edition of fallout 3 (But still have all his dlcs included? Or there are some files, or whatever, only included in the GOTY edition which are needed for this mod to works?

2) Same as above, but with Fallout New Vegas... (All dlc included in the ultimate edition but bought separately, so same question as above... moreover:

- I don't have Courier stash, but all the pre-order packs included in it bought separately... So i suppose it's ok? Or like the above problem there are some files only included in the Courier Stash dlc?

- I DO NOT have the Gun Runner Arsenal, anyway i've already found a way to buy it, so i can safely buy it if i need this, i'll do it without problem to support Bethesda and to run this awesome mod. :)

3) All these mentioned are Italian Feature... Are this totally incompatible? Is there a way to change the game language to English? I really wouldn't like to buy those 2 games again just for the language...

What i'm ready to do is to buy the Gun Runner Arsenal if i can solve the language problem and if it's okay that i bought all the extra features separately (I had to buy them the day they were released XD).

Hope you can help me, and sorry if i mispelled something...

Xiang

EDIT: Just saw i thread under mine... -.-

Looks like it isn't compatible... :(

Anyway, apart from the language, is it ok for the dlc separately bought? (Assuming i'll buy Gun Runner Arsenal of course)

And what make it incompatible for other languages if i can ask?

Where you get the DLCs doesn

Where you get the DLCs doesn't matter.

Because TTW is not generated procedurally, it is not a simple matter to translate it into other languages. Once the core TTW is considered done, I would like to have people start translating it, and I can program a special installer that is language independant, unfortunately, that is quite a ways in the future.

My New vegas obviously is for

My New vegas obviously is for steam... Though my Fallout 3 is for Games for windows live... So i don't think i can change language there... Anyway, could you explain shortly why is the english language so important? Are script based on english named objects for instance? Or something similar so another language don't let script "link" from different names?

Or is a more deep involved problem? Because i can take my hands on GECKS, i used it to translate and create little mods, so with more info i can try to see if i can do something about it...

By the way... Are you literally the same guys working on A requiem for a capital wasteland on the nexus? Why did you leave that place and moved here?

Any chance you'd be willing

Any chance you'd be willing to lay down the details as to what prevents language independent installations? I assume it has to do with the patching done in the TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm or something? Curious because I'd like to help if remotely possible.

Everything in

Post by JaxFirehart » Tue Nov 06, 2012 10:58 pm

Everything in TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm needs to be translated for the given language, because of extensive changes in TTW.esm, even if FO3.esm were patched for you given language, TTW would revert a huge amount of those translations back to english. So If you can completely translate TTW.esm then I can program the installer to be compatible for that language.

I could help too !

I know how to use FNVedit, Egg Translator and GECK to translate.

This is some kind of "heavy" to translate so two it's better than one, i guess.

And if we begin to translate it now, we could make a database for Egg Translator and give it to you ?

I want to play Fallout again but i like both of them so that's why i want to help ;)

Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock'n'roll...

I am working on some dialog

Post by sesom » Wed Nov 07, 2012 12:23 pm

I am working on some dialog fixes for the FO3 part. It would make sense to wait for translations until this is finished because there are changes in the location (from FO3.esm to TTW.esm) of some dialog possible in the process of fixing.
