I don't feel it causes any problems. I took it at level 31, and yeah it does make it a bit easier on me. But my main issue was carry weight, my back pocket is constantly crammed full of crap and the 9STR helps with that greatly. I haven't noticed all that much of an improvement in combat capabilities. What it makes easier on me is moving around while taking everything that isn't nailed down. I don't get overloaded after picking up three rifles and a power helmet anymore, I can now take the entire loadout of that Enclave patrol and still run around/fast travel, and it means I can take my M2 Browning along and still loot things...I made that gun 95 pounds haha.

That might be because I don't wear armor though. My standard issue outfit is either a pristine business suit or a metallica tee, black jeans and sneakers. Neither outfit has any DT or DR.

The Perk IMO does make the game sorta obsolete past level 30, since weapon Str requirements for example mean nothing, and the amount of skill points you get is so high, you will most likely cap all skills before 50. I do agree that bumping it to 50 is a good idea.

How about level 45? People running the experience reducer are going to need a lot of experience to get to level 50, and there aren't really many perks you get around level 40. And the level 50 perks are pretty useful. I don't want people having to choose between this and those.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

That's the consequence of choice, IMO, is that you get to choose between one of them. There's not a lot of Perks at level 50 anyways, so moving it to 50 would add yet another choice to Level 50 players. Also, if you took the Almost perfect Perk and then bought the Implants, you'd have 10 to your SPECIAL. That's... pretty OP, and it seems like a great way to reach level 50.

Its all about preserving tension. The only way to really force tension between perks is by making them only available at max level. Or by making perks at certain levels exclusive. Like you can only take 1 L20 perk (Solar Powered, Grim Reaper's Sprint, etc) once you pick one, the others are permanently disabled. Same at L30 L40 and L50 (though with L50 being max level thats not strictly necessary). Were those changes implemented, Almost perfect could be raised to L40 or possibly even left at L30 creating tension by forcing you to choose between Implant GRX and Almost Perfect, which for me would be a very hard choice.

Oh man, I love my implant GRX

Oh man, I love my implant GRX and the almost perfect perk too... NOOOOOOOOOOOO! xD

Darn that would really have to make me think for ages which one to pick alright, but as I usually say: Whatever you guys prefer I will stick with it wink after all I am not a hardcore TTW gamer, and I probably even suck at playing the game (who fights a Quimera tank with just a combat knife?) so those overpowered perks are perfect to keep me alive even playing on normal difficulty xD.

But now I just had a thought surprise we are all assuming the players will reach level 50 (which makes sense since it's TTW and it's a loooong game), but what if there are players who will rush and never even reach level... mmm I don't know mmm level 40 or something, it is quite possible to do that and even more with the XP system I was testing that Jax made, or players that like the Logan's Loophole trait, then they wouldn't be able to get the almost perfect perk ever. We can't forget there are many ways to play TTW and not all the players are experienced or like to do many side-quests, some just rush through the game or decide to skip some quests they really hate doing, or even entire DLC's if they don't like them (I know people that HATE Mothership Zeta and want nothing to do with it, other hate OA or PL) so they might love TTW but that might not mean they will want to do everything and go everywhere, not to mention that even in this forums existed before a lot of talk about XP caps, XP reduction and other XP related discussions which makes me believe many players will want to make it harder to reach lv 50 and will use mods and all sort of things to balance the XP.

I am not saying that I am against making the almost perfect perk available higher or like Jax said making the player choose from a couple of same level perks to balance it out, but I am good thinking about different types of users and players and I have to throw to the air the ideas and tastes of other (probably the minority) players.

Well base TTW wont touch any of the perks. Any changes to almost perfect will be mod based.

Well, level 35, and the game

Post by Shadow » Sat Mar 09, 2013 7:11 pm

Well, level 35, and the game hasn't gotten significantly easier.  I still die fairly often even with power armor and high level weapons.  The biggest change is the large amount of carrying capacity gained.  Which is something arguably a bit overpowered, but I like it. :)
